Disassociate Host From vCenter Server

There maybe many reasons to perform such an action, but mine was due to not removing ESXi 6.0 hosts from a Lab vCenter before destroying it. In this case you will receive the following warning when connecting directly to the ESXi host:

disassociatehost1

The following simple steps will disassociate the host from the deleted vCenter:

  1. Connect to ESXi, clicking ok to the warning displayed above.
  2. Navigate to the summary tab.
  3. Under Host Management chose the option to Disassociate Host From vCenter Server.

It is worth noting that you may also simply add the ESXi hosts to a new vCenter, without the requirement to Disassociate.
