Dell Technologies and Broadcom are thrilled to announce the General Availability of VMware Cloud Foundation 5.2.2. Building on our strong partnership, this announcement marks a significant milestone. This release supports ESXi 8.0 U3g and vCenter Server 8.0 U3g, and introduces several new features and enhancements, including support for in-place upgrades to VCF 5.2.2 from existing VCF 4.5.2 and higher environments (N-3 upgrade support). This is the first VCF release to support the transition of clusters from vSphere Lifecycle Manager baseline-managed to vSphere Lifecycle Manager image-based. It also offers support for vSphere Lifecycle Manager baseline and vSphere Lifecycle Manager image-based clusters in same workload domain.

- N-3 upgrade support: Support upgrades to VCF 5.2.2 from existing VCF 4.5.2 and higher environments (N-3 upgrade support). To upgrade from VCF 5.x on VxRail 8.0.x to VCF 5.2.2 on VxRail 8.0.361, see Broadcom KB 94747.
- Security fixes: VCF 5.2.2 on VxRail 8.0.361 includes patches that address the issues outlined in VMSA-2025-0013, resolving multiple VMware ESXi vulnerabilities (CVE-2025-41236, CVE-2025-41237, CVE-2025-41238, CVE-2025-41239).
- Ability to have a workload domain with both vLCM and legacy LCM clusters. This offers support for both vSphere Lifecycle Manager baseline and image-based clusters within the same workload domain: VCF now allows users to deploy and upgrade clusters using either vLCM baselines or vLCM images in a single workload domain.
- Ability to convert an existing legacy LCM cluster to vLCM cluster. This offers support for transitioning clusters from vSphere Lifecycle Manager baseline-managed to image-based management: VCF users can now switch cluster lifecycle management from baselines to images using either a PowerShell script or the SDDC Manager API.
